Michelle Pfeiffer Goes Business Casual For Vogue’s Fashion Forces – Footwear News
Tackling an ever-changing fashion and beauty landscape, Michelle Pfeiffer and sustainable fashion designer Stella McCartney discussed how to make luxury beauty less toxic and more sustainable at Vogue’s Forces of Fashion Summit held yesterday in New York.
Pfeiffer, who wore black and white, spoke about bringing her perfume brand Henry Rose to life and the importance of transparency when discussing sustainable practices.
The ‘Scarface’ actress wore a crisp, simple white button tucked into a high-waisted black maxi skirt with a small front slit. Over it, Pfeiffer donned an oversized black blazer and carried a shiny black leather shoulder bag.
For footwear, the Golden Globe Award winner opted for a fall staple, donning black patent leather knee high boots with pointed toes and chunky three to four inch heels. The chunky heels gave Pfeiffer a few extra inches, while the shiny all-black silhouette further streamlined her look.
Popularized in the go-go era of the 60s, knee-high boots leave the wearer’s knee exposed, but cover the calves. Often worn with skirts, the style is a smart choice in fall and winter to protect the leg from the elements while still allowing the wearer to show off some leg.
During their Forces of Fashion conversation, Pfeiffer and McCartney also discussed the obstacles to challenging the status quo of luxury beauty, while acknowledging the progress being made, from groundbreaking ingredients to groundbreaking biotech advancements. Not to mention that consumers are more educated and socially aware than ever. “People have gotten smarter, people have gotten more educated, people vote with their wallets,” Pfeiffer said. “When big companies see there’s consumer demand and profitability, that’s when you really see the needle move.”
